  • For 3 toasts (1 serving):
  • 1. 3 slices of thick bread (ideally brioche, challah, or day-old sandwich bread), can be white or whole wheat.
  • 2. 1 large egg
  • 3. 1/2 cup of milk (whole, semi-skimmed, or plant-based)
  • 4. 1 tablespoon of sugar (optional, or to taste)
  • 5. 1/2 tablespoon of vanilla extract
  • 6. 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 7. Butter (approximately 1-2 tablespoons) for the pan
  • 8. For serving: maple syrup, honey, fresh fruits (strawberries, blueberries, banana), powdered sugar, whipped cream.

  1. In a bowl, add an egg, the milk (I used coconut, but you can use cow's, almond, or your preference).
  2. The original recipe calls for 3 tablespoons of sugar, but I feel it's too much, so I usually only add one tablespoon... when I want it to be healthier, I don't add any sugar, and they are just as delicious because in the end, we sweeten with a little honey.
  3. Add half a tablespoon of vanilla extract, and a good amount of cinnamon, but the amount is to your taste. Finally, mix everything well.
  4. Now, on medium heat, put a non-stick pan, grease with a little butter... take the bread slices, soak them well in the mixture, and put them in the pan until golden on both sides, and do the same with the rest.
  5. When they are ready, plate with the fruit of our preference... I like to add strawberries and blueberries... decorate with a little honey, powdered sugar, and that's it, just serve and enjoy!.

  • Day-old bread works best because it is a little drier and absorbs the mixture without falling apart.
  • Do not saturate the bread with too much egg mixture.
  • Keep the heat on medium so they cook well on the inside without burning on the outside.
